Philosophical Issues in Art

I'm taking a Philosophical Issues in Film class (which for some reason, I thought would be a blow-off class). And tonight we are discussing art. I read some Plato today about what he thought about art... and he kinda says that there is a Creator of things, and then those who make versions of it (carpenters), and then those who imitate the makers (carpenters) or others... thus art is thrice removed... or something. And also he talks about how art brings out base desires (as they are more interesting) and discards patience and reason most of the time, not appealing to virtue.
In any case... I agree with that I think... and kinda know art is overrated in our culture... and perhaps that our lives are becoming so infused with media that it is hard to tell which is imitating which...
all that being said...
i'm sleepy and have to go see what my class thinks now...
(no photos today)
