apple orchard

This past Sunday, I went to Carol Stream to visit a friend from Columbia College. I went to children's church to watch him teach and then we decided to go to...
an apple orchard!
I went with Sean and his wife, Hillary and their friends Amy and Aaron...

The orchard was pretty neat and slightly quirky... because they had a mandatory hayride to the apple trees... that took us a loop and wound up being right next to the place where we started. but we got to pick our own apples (lift and twist) and got some apple cider smoothies, so... yumm.

These apples are mostly not mine. Cortlands tasted the best to me cause they were a little tart...

This little boy in front is Peter. He's Amy and Aaron's son.

Sean has spied an apple he really wants! NNNN!!!

Hillary trying to reach a hard-to-get apple.

Amy taking a giant bite.

Here's Peter taking a cue from his mom. He's 2 years old.

Hmm... Sean wanted to ride the horsey before we left... so...

And Aaron wanted to ride the tractor for the photo shoot...

Here's Amy on the car ride back... I like the mood of this photo especially cause the sun was setting and it feels like it captures a "hanging out" time pretty well.

Anyways, it was pretty fun. yeppers.

Why Jon Got Less Than 5 Hours of Sleep Last Night

Ok, here's the silly boat.
Tonight was the first night I kept Jon up much later than he should've been since he came to Dixon. He and I played with that a studio light at the cabin.

First we took photos to figure it out in the kitchen of the cabin.
Then we went outside and played with it and the flashlight.

Then we thought, "what if we make the strobe go off a couple times during the exposure..." and did like 10 second exposures.

Then, it naturally went to this...

and this...

Before we left, the moonlight seemed pretty bright, so I took a photo of the cabin using the moonlight in a 30 second exposure.

a failed experiment?

ok... so, today I tried to create a photo simulating a guy getting paper blown all around him, while he is grabbing one of the papers that is a "Final Exam" paper... it's a portrait about academic football students.
so, i don't know... if it worked i guess.. you be the judge. I put a poll off to the upper right of this blog.
so... yep.

UPDATE - what's that on the road!

here's a photo illustration i made of what happened to me tonight as i drove on Rt. 26 out of Dixon during a storm...
can you guess what it is that is coming rolling towards me?
--------------
UPDATE - End of the story
--------------

I was on my way to Milledgeville to a Demolition Derby at a fair... and I began to notice the dark storm clouds in front of me (scary)... and then things start blowing towards me in huge gusts, birds having trouble flying, etc... and then on the road up ahead... zoinks!

So, I stopped in the highway... and thought, "Hmmm."

I then pulled to the side of the road, watched the trampoline come towards me and move off the road to the right and into a tree (see below).

I thought, "I want to go home." And did.

Later though, I went out and got this photo and talked to the family who owned the trampoline about 250 yards up the road from where it landed. They said they saw it lift up and start rolling toward the highway, which was where I saw it.
So yeah, it was pretty funny, but I was scared, cause... I dunno... reminded me of Twister.
